Week Five Part E

Three Year Professional Development Plan
YEAR ONE: GOAL ONE
Goal: Improve skills for Facilities and Maintenance

TExES Competency and Domain:  Domain 3 Comp. 9

Objective: Analyze and evaluate campus needs for maintenance and upgrades.

Prepare work orders and communicate directly with Director of Facilities.
Take on extra projects to assist with planning next Bond Election for new high
   school.

Course Work/Book/ workshops: Learning From the Best by Sandra Harris

Mentors/Professional Support: Thomas Collins, Superintendent and David Truitt, Deputy Superintendent

Date of Completion: ongoing for the 2011-2012 school year (by May 2012)

Evaluations:
Work orders entered and completed.
Facilities at WNGA maintained and improved.
Participation in Board Meetings for preparation for Bond Election


YEAR ONE: GOAL TWO
Goal: Improve skills in implementing a program or initiative

TExES Competency and Domain: Domain 2 Comp. 5

Objectives: organization and implementation of Nix's Six Mentoring Program at
  Waxahachie Ninth Grade Academy
Identify students and group by academic, behavioral, or attendance needs
Recruit teachers to serve as Mentors
Prepare a Parent/Mentor Orientation
Get a donor for food for Mentor Orientation
Train Mentors and establish guidelines
Provide forms for profiling activities

Course Work/ Book/ Workshops: Grant Writing Workshop

Mentor/Professional Support: David Nix

Date of Completion: Start date by September 20, 2011
Parent Orientation by October 15, 2011 and
Final Evaluation by May 20, 2011 with EOC Results.

Evaluations: Increase passing rate on Math and Science State Assessments
Increase students' attendance rates
Decrease course failures
Decrease office referrals

YEAR TWO: GOAL ONE
Goal: To increase communication with the Board

TExES Competency and Domain: Domain 1 Competency 4

Objective: Become familiar with Board members and their districts and the needs of their respective districts.

Course work/Book/Workshop: N/A

Mentor/Professional Support: Thomas Collins, Superintendent

Date of Completion: October 30, 2011

Evaluation: Summarize the needs of each district and the Board member that represents each.
Identify the initiative needed for the individual districts and campuses.

YEAR TWO: GOAL TWO
Goal: To increase communication with the community

TExES Competency and Domain: Domain 1, Competency 3

Objective: To communicate and collaborate with families and community members and to respond to diverse community interests and needs and to solicit community support for educational programs.

Course work/Book/Workshop:  Learning From The Best by Sandra Harris

Mentor/Professional Support: Nicole Mansell, Director of Public Relations and Melissa Cobb, Director of Partners in Education

Date of Completion: October 2012

Evaluation: Increased Parental Involvement including Parent Workshops to highlight
New STAAR requirements for students and how parents can help students prepare for the assessments.

YEAR THREE: GOAL ONE
Goal: To Update Technological Skills of Staff and Students and update technology.

TExES Competency and Domain: Domain 3, Competency 8

Objective: Prepare a strategic plan to improve technology usage and update current technology. 

Course work/Book/Workshop: Web 2.0: New Tools, New Schools by Gwen Solomon, Lynne Schrum.

Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works by Howard Pitler, Elizabeth Hubbell, Matt Kuhn, and Kim Malenoski.

Mentor/Professional Support: Robert Keith, Director of Technology Services

Date of Completion: November 2013

Evaluation: Submit plan to district leaders for consideration and possible implementation.

YEAR THREE: GOAL TWO
Goal: To assess results of the CSCOPE Implementation as a proactive measure to prepare for STAAR and modify or adjust according to student needs.

TExES Competency and Domain: Domain 2, Competency 5

Objective: Conduct a three-year data analysis of the implementation of CSCOPE on STAAR results. Modify implementation of additional parts of CSCOPE or update curriculum with additional strategies that are research-based.

Course work/Book/Workshop: N/A

Mentor/Professional Support: April Roddy

Date of Completion: April 2014

Evaluation: Data Analysis for three year implementation of CSCOPE and development of Action Plans to meet needs identified.
